The Original Confidant: Nauga are mythical protectors born of sea and earth’s spirit. In the beginning, the Nagua was the world’s premier heart-felt confidant. They weren't just mythical creatures; they were the gold standard for soft, plushy children’s toys. Their physical form was designed for a single purpose: to be a "good listener"—a soft shoulder for secrets and a silent partner for big dreams.
In the early era the Nagua's were a common, if unexplained, part of the landscape. They didn't hide as they do now. This photo from the 1940's is a rare look at how comfortable they were around families and domestic life.
1961 — Nauga's love to travel and Family trip was always one of there favorites.
They were loved because they were outgoing, adventurous, and always up for a road trip. In those early decades, Nagua sightings were common on family outings, sitting contentedly on rumble seats or tucked into picnic baskets. Every Nagua had a name before it was assigned a serial number. They were the silent witnesses to childhood adventure.

THE GREAT HIDE : Mid Twentieth Century
Rare surveillance still, recovered from a synthetic Leather facility during the late industrial expansion period. Some researchers believe this may represent one of the final documented Nagua visits during the Great Hide.
The Industrial Harvest: The middle decades of the twentieth century changed everything. As the world moved toward mass production, the Nagua’s kind was hunted to near extinction. Not for sport, but for their aesthetic. Modern families wanted Faux-Leather “everything”: sofas, ottomans, car dashboards, and steering wheels.
Over 16 million yards of synthetic “hides”—marketed as "Faux Leather"—were used yearly. A quote from a 1985 industry brochure revealed the truth: "...synthetic leather is not genuine leather... rather from Nagua Hides." You were lied to!
GTO Sighting — Some sightings were only noticed after the photograph was developed. Researchers believe the Nagua began adapting to modern industrial surfaces, hiding in reflections, chrome, and body contours. Do you see the Nagua's reflection?

To survive, the Nagua learned to hide. They hid in old factories and lonely places. They adapted to the very material used to mimic them. They became still. They became invisible, watching from the walls of suburban homes as the world moved on.
Nagua in Factory — By the late twentieth century, sightings suggested the Nagua had learned to live inside the machinery of the modern world. They hid wherever the world stopped looking.
THE RE-EMERGENCE (Present Day)
Watching over the Marble: During their long retreat, the Nagua have been watching what all this synthetic "stuff" was doing to our Big Blue Marble. They saw the plastics meant to replace them slowly choking the oceans and shorelines their ocean kin still call home.
Some believe Baby Nagua, the youngest of his kind, is among the first willing to break the long silence of the Great Hide. Through sightings, stories, and quiet acts of encouragement, he has begun asking for allies willing to help protect whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, and the fragile waters they still call home.
Nagua with friends — Recent coastal sightings suggest the Nagua have slowly begun reconnecting with their ocean kin after decades of isolation during the Great Hide.
Yosemite — As sightings continue to increase, reports of the Nagua exploring national parks and protected wilderness areas have become increasingly common. Some believe the Nagua are finally beginning to enjoy the world openly again.
Recently, observers wearing official Nagua field gear have reported increased sightings, roadside conversations, and occasional “Aww…” responses from complete strangers. Those wishing to assist ongoing observation efforts have increasingly begun identifying themselves through official Nagua field gear and sightings markers.
The Nagua are returning. And they are looking for friends.
