Sighting #003 Yosemite Valley Ca.

Status: Verified / High Boldness Rating
Location: Lower Yosemite Fall Trail, California
Conditions: Clear, midday sun
Observer: Volunteer Field Observer (Tourist Group Co-Sign)

FIELD NOTES:

An incredible breakthrough from our Volunteer Network. Moving away from secluded coastal waterways, a solitary Nauga was documented right on the main pedestrian asphalt path leading to the waterfall base. Disregarding a group of park visitors walking just yards behind it, the subject maintained a fixed position, raising its flipper in what appeared to be a direct wave of welcome  to onlookers.

OBSERVER REPORT:

"We were walking up the paved trail toward the falls when the crowd stopped. Right there on the walkway, completely out of the water, was this Nagua pup. It sat perfectly upright, locked eyes with my camera lens, and threw up a friendly wave. Maybe he recognized my Nagua field tee shirt.  It was wearing a crisp 'Save the Nagua' field cap! The most amazing part? The group of hikers walking right behind it in the background didn't even seem to notice it was there. It stayed still just long enough for me to snap the photo before turning back toward the stream."

NETWORK DIRECTIVE:

The Nagua are moving along our national park trails in broad daylight. This open salute shows they are completely aware of our public monitoring efforts and seem to welcome the interaction. Join the public search and explore the official sightings log at savethenagua.net
